I’m finished with our wonderful rollersetting challenge a bit early. I completed my last set last week and sadly I do not have any photos! I was just a bit rushed and ended up doing a braidout shortly after anyway. But you’ve seen so many of my sets, one less won’t kill you right? As you can tell, I’ve been posting what several of you have dubbed my ‘hairducation series‘ which was pre-scheduled (which btw I am glad you are enjoying!!!) and I haven’t had a lot of time for “live” blogging. But my apologies for not finishing with an amazing rollerset! The official end is June 21st and I am so thankful to see that SO many of you actually stuck with it for most if not all of the six months! Your support made it a breeze for me! Please prepare to email your results and comparison pictures to me at: Ebony@Longing4Length.com.
As for my retention results, please see the below video. I compared today’s hair with my February touch up, right before I got that ratchet trim-turned-cut. Both were airdried hair. For those who didn’t believe that the trim really was 2-3″ please watch the first two minutes of the video. There won’t be any denying it after seeing that! Anyway, I’ve grown that length back! I think between rollersetting and use of the Bee Mine Growth serum, I retained more length in these past 17 weeks (Febraury – June) then I did during last year’s 7 month stretch! And I completely fell of the bandwagon with the growth serum use in May. Plus, my ends are still incredibly thick and healthy. So overall, I don’t think I could possibly be any happier with my results of the rollersetting challenge. So let’s look back at my goals:
- Retain length - Check!
- Maintain healthy ends - Check!!! I’m now completely over the entire trim debacle too, lol!
- Increase thickness – Check!
- I do not want to use direct heat at all the entire six months. Fail, but I only used it once!
- Decrease manipulation. I would like to reduce my combing, and while wearing the curly styles I don’t comb at all. Check! There were weeks where I even bunned most of the time.
- Decrease breakage and shedding – directly related to #5. I break and shed more when I manipulate more. Check, I can tell because I retained length and kept my ends healthy!
- Challenge myself to be creative and use all my rollers – Check! I did have a few ideas I didn’t have a chance to do, but overall I think I was pretty dern creative!
6 out of 7 is awesome! I’ve been disappointed about the trim since it happened, but now that I am back at the pre-trim length, I am really happy with my hair again. Completely. It is thick and full and medium-long and well on its way to being LONG LONG! lol. Remember the idea for this challenge was born out of my frustration with my thin-end setback and lack of length progress last year, so let me refresh your memory with some old pics:
Yuck mouf at those ends!Even with the trim in November, although I was happy with the evenness, you can clearly still see areas of thinness. I showed you the length in my Birthday Nail Haul & Unofficial Length Check video and you can clearly see the ends are much better and my hair is so thick!!! (as of May 2012):
And you can take a look at my length retention in the video below:
So get yourselves ready to send me those pics! Oh and BTW I have contacted the last couple of mini-challenge winners. I was so behind I just decided to pick them, photos will be posted with the final update where you all get a chance to vote on the winners!
