I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t jumped with both feet in on the ombre hair trend. Honestly, for me it isn’t done well very often. It either looks like you forgot to touch up your hair color (those blonde looks from Ciara & Rihanna) or like you simply dipped your ends in bleach and forgot that ombre means to fade GRADUALLY from dark to light. However, there are a few ladies whose ombre’d hair does the trend justice so I’ve picked my five favorites. Who do you think did it best?
Draya Michelle
This lady is quite trendy and since I’ve never seen an episode of BBW LA, I had no idea! Like I’ve said before, I’m no longer entertained by shows like BBW but I do love their style. I really like her take on the ombre trend, its one that an everyday woman could actually wear!
Chanel Iman:
She is such a beautiful girl and represents for “us” so well in the high fashion world of modeling!
Also, her ombre is definitely one of my favorites. I love the fade from black to light without going all the way blonde, plus the way her hair is curled is perfection!
Keke Palmer
Classy and covered up…a teen Disney star?! I do believe she’s broken the curse! Britney, Lindsay, Miley…need I go on? (I don’t count Raven because she was famous before Disney)
Anywhooo, her ombre actually does go through several tones before reaching blonde giving an amazing “fade” effect! Since it begins with black this is even one I could rock with one of my u-part wigs!
Ciara
I really liked Ciara’s ombre when she first started wearing it…then she went completely off the mark with bleach blonde hair later in the year. But the fade from dark brown to honey blonde is really pretty!
Raven Symone:
This was HER LOOK! She’s done the ombre trend in varying shades of brown and blonde and I always think her hair looks great. She’s admitted to wearing 32″ hair from Extensions Plus on the Wendy Williams Show, and although I’m not balling like that just yet…I wouldn’t mind rocking her look!
How NOT to do ombre hair:
I mentioned these looks earlier but these styles by Ciara and Rihanna are being classified as ombre…but to me, they are simply dark roots with blonde hair. A nod to the 80s and I hated the look then!
I also hate the “dipped ends” look where there is no graduation in color, Teyana Taylor (while I love her hair, I hate the color) demonstrates this:
Okay – now who is your favorite? Is there someone you think should’ve been included?
