I began this week’s wash day late Sunday evening. I’m thinking I may need to give up on Saturday and Sunday nights being for wash day and go back to doing them on either Friday evening or Saturday morning! Anywhoo, this week I tried a few new things:
- Prepoo: EVCO + Hemp Seed Oil
- Wash: Giovanni Wellness Shampoo
- Deep Condition: Parnevu Hair Mayonnaise
- Scalp Treatment: Optimum Care Essential Nutrients
- Partial Airdry then apply Bee Mine Luscious Balanced Cream Moisturizer sealed with EVCO
- Flat Ironed with Optimum Care Heat Protection Polisher
I was trying out both the Parnevu conditioner and the Optimum Care Essential Nutrients to review. I actually used and LOVED the Parnevu Hair Mayonnaise earlier in my hair journey (see this throwback video) and only got away from it in attempt to stream line my products. I deep conditioned with it under my heating cap then ended up going to sleep with it in my hair. Early Monday morning I rinsed it and my hair felt UH MAZEEEE ING (making me wonder why I ever stopped using it) and then I allowed my hair to air dry without any product for about an hour while I finished up some work before leaving the house. Then I decided to see what the Optimum Care Essential Nutrients product was all about and applied it to my scalp per the instructions (tutorial forthcoming). It felt weird to have something on my scalp but surprisingly refreshing. I’ve been having issues with my scalp flaking just a tiny bit, but this product neither worsened nor alleviated it; I have a feeling its more for a dry scalp and my flakes are probably from product build up. I’m not sure exactly where this product would fit into my regimen, it isn’t a bad product or anything I just don’t know aside from someone who suffers with dandruff or perhaps seborrheic dermatitis why anyone would use this item.
Anywhoo, then I applied my all time fave Bee Mine Balanced Cream Moisturizer and sealed with EVCO. My hair was still pretty damp – I just pulled it back into a low ponytail, twisted it loosely into a bun secured with a single large bobby pin and slapped a stretchy headband on. I actually looked presentable if I do say so myself and by the time I returned home only the middle of my hair was still wet which I allowed to dry overnight. This morning I got up extra early and decided to flat iron my hair, it felt so soft and moisturized. I kinda wanted to see it completely straight, I won’t lie. I tested out the Optimum Care Heat Protection Polisher and lemme just say that this product is THE BOMB.COM! I mean I have nevahhhhhh raved about a heat protectant but this one changed alladat! Now ya’ll know of all the times you have seen me flat iron my hair, heard me talk about how I’m not great at flat ironing to see THESE results?! NOICE! I’m not going to rave too hard because I will have a demonstration and separate post on the product, it is that good that after one use, I’m gonna post about it. Something I rarely do. Anywhooo, here are a few pics of my results:
My thumb is on my bra strap – I was wearing one of my lower resting bras but I want my hair to reach there before I claim BSL. I’ll be ecstatic when I do. Right now I’m feeling really medium. Not short, but not long. I feel like when I reach an undeniable BSL (when it doesn’t matter WHICH bra I have on, my hair covers the strap) then I will finally feel like I’ve arrived in long hair land!
I’ve been away from my Kerapro for a few weeks now and my hair still looks and feels amazing. So far the Optimum Care Deep Conditioning Masque and the Parnevu Hair Mayo have definitely been holding their own. Weaving it up soon so it will be nice to have some less expensive products to use while I’m in hiding.
