Video: Wink Protein Hair Blend by Vivica Fox Hair

I’ve already posted my opinions and details on my recent protective hairstyle, a sew in weave with Wink Protein Hair Blend by Vivica Fox Hair, below is a video so you can get a better view of how the hair looks.

As I already stated, this hair retails for around $20 per pack and although it is not human hair can be curled with temperatures of 300-360F.  There are trade offs for using less expensive, non-human hair but there are times I think wearing this hair would be appropriate.

Reasons to Wear Wink By Vivica Fox Hair:

  • Any short term style – this hair is not expected to last through multiple washings so if you have an event for which you require or desire a different look or added length and only plan to wear the hair about four weeks, this hair is a good choice.
  • Your first weave – to test out how you like the style and caring for your hair beneath.
  • If you plan to cut the hair while wearing to change up the look; I for one do NOT cut my higher quality hair extensions, the weft or the length.
  • To make a quick weave (something I’ve never done…but may consider!)
  • To experiment with u-part or full wig making.
  • To add some color to your do (I prefer not to color my expensive extensions)

Although this hair can be curled…I actually think it diminishes the life of the hair.  The first place that will start to appear “ratty” are the ends and repeated curling, from what I can tell thus far, will just wear them out that much faster.  So after the stylist curled it, I’ve been using rollers to maintain the curls and so far, so good!  Hope you enjoyed!

In the past when I wore weaves I loved to use that Brandy (the singer) protein hair. It was useful for short term styles like you stated and very cost effective. I never really used is for longer style just bobs that only required me the bend the ends under. Your curls look great I can’t wait to see how long the hair holds up.

You are so right, once I cut it into a bob, it was SO much better to wear.

Awesome review per usual. I refused to invest in real human hair for the longest but then I realized that I’d spent just as much money by repeatedly having to get new hair after my less expensive brand frayed and began to look dull. But great idea about using them to add color!!

Thanks girl and you are SO right!!! Once you go high end its hard to look back, but I would use this hair again for like a cruise or something quick.

Yes, I agree the labeling is confusing and I actually talked about that in the previous post I did on the Wink by Vivica, which was linked above. I definitely made it work for me but as I said, it does not perform like one of the more expensive brands from her line. I talked to the Vivica rep about how the label could be misleading and they actually appreciate your honest feedback. But this hair would work well for short term wear and/or in shorter lengths, I later cut it into a bob (http://longing4length.com/2012/11/wink-by-vivica-fox-hair-update.html) and it became much more manageable. Thanks for visiting and I am sorry you had a bad experience. Visit Longing 4 Length regularly for additional reviews for other products from Vivica’s line along with other hair talk. :-)
