Bad news: my laptop is down. Of course its a major inconvenience but the good news is that my important non-blog-life materials I was smart enough to store on an external hard drive. Bad news…well blogging has a major wrench thrown in it because I primarily work on the weekends (posts, recording & editing) on my laptop. So…as we speak, well read, my thumbs are being worn out on my Droid! Bear with me, it will be worth the wait I promise. I recorded how I wash my weave (in detail), moisturizing & sealing, detangling & rollersetting. So that’s what’s coming up.
Anywhooo, my scalp had been itching unmercifully since I had this weave installed. So badly in fact that I was >THIS< close to taking it out. However, I washed my weave first mainly because so many of you wanted to know HOW to wash (or at least how I wash) your hair in a sew in. Thank goodness for your request because it helped tremendously!
To begin, I did my normal ritual of mixing a sulfate free shampoo with water in an applicator bottle (so you can easily reach your scalp and real hair thru the tracks). After watching one of Traycee from KISS recent videos, I decided to add tea tree oil to the mixture to help with the itching. So I washed (and recorded!) my weave and conditioned in the shower with Aussie 3 Minute Deep Moisture, also applied in an applicator bottle. My scalp felt so much better! I decided to rollerset my leave out, which is normal for me – I hate seeing people damage that area of their hair while attempting to “blend” it to the texture of the extensions. Weaves for me are a protective style, not a reason to neglect or abuse any portions of my hair. I decided to roll my Vivica Wink hair on jumbo flexirods rather than try to blow dry and curl it. For a few reasons – as you know I don’t LIKE the blow dry/flat iron process but also this is PROTEIN hair so I didn’t want to add heat if I didn’t have to, ya know?
I used the green jumbo rods on the weave and my normal red 1.5″ plastic mesh rollers on my leave out.
I didn’t sit under the dryer long enough for my weave to completely dry and pincurled it overnight. The results were FABULOUS! I am seriously impressed with this hair! Not human hair and only $20 per pack? I was fully prepared to have a matted mess but au contraire (Thanks for the correction E.A.) my friends!
Body & the perfect amount of curl! No direct heat needed!
Don’t worry, I combed my hair to cover that track peeking out.
So, that is my wash day. I am definitely going to cut this hair into a bob. What do you guys think of the final results? Is Vivica Hair Wink impressing you too? I am actually glad for the opportunity to review this hair, now I can accurately access how less expensive hair performs. Now, it DOES tangle, bur surprisingly there isn’t a lot of shedding. I will update you on that soon. Whew! I have no idea how these pics will appear or how well (or poorly) written this post is. Its the first from my phone since moving to Word Press, so pardon any errors, both spelling and grammatical!
