I saw a few ladies post photos on Instagram to wear white nails in honor of Nails for Newtown (you can search the hashtag to see other manis) and I happily participated. It is such a small and overwhelmingly inadequate gesture and although I was happy to wear a color I normally would NOT on my nails, what can you really do in situations such as these? The tragedy that affected the Sandy Hook Elementary school specifically is beyond words. I’m sure it has left most of us in tears, wonderment, and feeling helpless. I have never been one to get wrapped up in negative news – in fact I rarely watch it for this reason. I’m not drawn to tabloids and although I have been a long time fan of Wendy Williams dating back to her gossip filled radio days, I genuinely am not too attracted to hearing gory details about other people on any level. So I must be honest and say that I have purposely followed this story from a distance, instead trying not to allow the horribleness of the situation to take over my days because I still have things to accomplish. I have, however, kept that town, all those affected and all of humanity in prayer since the incident.
I had to cut my nails down this week – those in medical professions already know the deal – and opted for a sheer, soft, shimmery white by OPI called I’ll Take All the Cake. I normally would never choose a color like this (see through sheers are not for me) but in honor of those affected, here is my manicure this week:
I’ve linked up again with LA Lynns and Lipgloss & Binky for MANICure Monday.
