Essie Shine of the Times Luxe Effects

I don’t know if it is possible for me to be MORE excited them I am about today’s featured nail polish – Essie Shine of the Times from their Luxe Effects collection!  If ya’ll have been following my nail posts then you know I’m deep into Shopping my Stash of nail polishes.  Meaning – I’m on a self imposed no-buy until I’ve worn every single polish in my collection.  Honestly, its going better than I could have even imagined…I thought I would feel restricted and all of a sudden have the urge to buy-buy-buy.  But quite the contrary, I’m enjoying grabbing bottles I bought but have yet to wear and knowing that I’m actually using my collection.  I swear I think putting my foot down with myself has saved me from being a hoarder and heightened the enjoyment I have for doing my own nails.

Anyway, I recently cleaned out my beauty collection (makeup/hair/nail polishes) and came across even more polishes in random places and Essie Shine of the Times was one of those hidden beauties.  I decided to do a quick mid-week repaint.  I had a small inkling that this polish was slightly iridescent but I was not expecting the holographic awesomeness that I got!!!  It’s impossible to capture the true beautiful uniqueness of this polish via photo.  Impossible.  But I did try!!!!

Indoors with and without flash (before I cleaned up my cuticles!)

First I painted my nails with two coats of Sally’ Hansen Real Royal (a dark brown with slight shimmer) then I layered one coat of Essie Shine of the Times.  Literally as I was brushing it on I whispered holy crap!  I realize nail polish may not do it for everyone, but it doggone sure does it for me!  I was blown away by how pretty and different it was from anything else I own.  And to think I scooped this bad boy up for $3 on clearance and had it sitting literally for MONTHS without using it.  SMH!  See why I needed to do a no-buy?!

I think you get a good idea of how it looks in the various lights and settings; it looks brown (over the base color) with one turn of the hand but clearly has some iridescent-duochrome holographic-ness to it!  Man oh man this is one polish I’m really glad I randomly grabbed in Wal-greens.  #LOVE!!!

For my own purpose of keeping track, since my challenge began February 1st I’ve used 11 polishes!
