Hello ladies – thank you so much to everyone who is a part or supporter of the current Protective Styling Challenge! I never thought I would see the day that I would be able to protective style (weave/braid free) for this long without losing my mind and I know for a fact that if it weren’t for your company, it would have been a ginormous epic fail! So…thank you!
I know when I originally announced the upcoming challenges, I stated that almost immediately after the PSC I would be starting the L4L Rollersetting Challenge (Part Deaux) but I have to postpone that challenge. If you’ve observed or participated in either one of the challenges I’ve hosted, I like to be really interactive. Weekly styles, social media posts, styling ideas, etc. and in order to be the type of host I like to be, it does take planning and time which I’m just a bit short on these days. It helps when we are in it together, all styling our hair, having fun, enjoying it, keeping each other motivated and most of all growing healthy hair!
I loveeeee rollersetting my hair, it is my absolute favorite hairstyle to wear in the world but to set it weekly and be innovative with my style ideas takes more time than I have right now. I hate to have to do this – not only because of you – but because of the benefits I saw in my hair during the last challenge, but if I can’t do something right I’d prefer not to do it at all. I know you all understand because most women have several responsibilities – work, school, family, church…or all of the above! lol. So I’m pausing on the next challenge until further notice, but don’t worry we it will be rescheduled! Also, I will be giving away a hair steamer just for being a supporter of L4L at the start of summer.
Lastly, because I’ve gotten into the habit of protective styling and because I’ve fallen in love with several weave styles – I will be wearing some custom ECP-made full and u-part wigs for the next few months. I may even change my summer plans to a “Hide Your Hair” challenge, but we’ll see, please let me know how you feel about that.
In any event, I’ll be taking that opportunity to learn and share information about closures, making your own full wig (on which there are a ton of YouTube tutorials), coloring your own hair, wig storage, and keeping your hair healthy while wearing wigs and sew-ins, so don’t worry there will be plenty of hair talk. What I’m most excited about is playing in color, something I haven’t done for a few years. I think I’m going to be a blonde, like I said in my recent hair ramble, and a red head this spring and summer!
I’m crushing on some of Beyonce’s older looks, Kelly Rowland and Brandy’s curly hair looks and Chaka Khan’s gorgeous red hue. I want to try some blunt bangs, a short curly bob, and even mix it up with a half braided look like Jill Scott! I have no idea what’s making me feel so weave-y, but I’m loving all the options you can rock with extensions so…I’m going to run with it and protect my hair in the meantime. I also think this will make for a good experiment, seeing how much length retention I can get while in hiding. Anddddd of course it frees me up so I can concentrate on “other” things as well, which is the major reason I’ve come to this conclusion.
I hope you understand about the slight change in plans! I look forward to starting the Rollersetting Challenge later in the year!
