After I took down my Beyonce Inspired Updo from last weekend, I basically wore a bun all week. I haphazardly moisturized and sealed this week mainly with Bee Mine Deja’s Hair Milk and grapeseed oil…but never thoroughly. I didn’t comb my hair all week either, simply removed the ponytail holder at night, threw on my bonnet and smoothed back up into a messy high bun each morning. By time I reached wash day, my hair didn’t really feel dry but my neglect was evident throughout my wash day process as I lost a lot of hair during detangling (I’m 8 weeks post relaxer):
I’m not too concerned because I do have thick hair but I decided to hide my hair to nip this problem right here. So I followed my normal wash regimen: (1) Prepoo with warm EVCO (2) Shampoo with Giovanni Smooth as Silk (3) Deep conditioned with Kerapro Deep Restorative Treatment (4) Airdried with Bee Mine Deja’s Hair Milk. When my hair was about 80% dry, I cornrowed it into about 8 large braids leaving a bit of my hairline out.
Once my hair was braided I applied Bee Mine Luscious Balanced Cream Moisturizer to the end of each braid and sealed with whipped shea butter. After pinning the ends of my braids up, I rocked my newly made wig.
Remember I told you how much I was feeling red lipsticks?!
Wet n’ Wild Megalast in Cherry Picking – $2! #score!!!
You know I’ll be giving you ALL the details about the hair, the wig, my process and tips – but for right now I’m just trying to decide if I like the final product. I lovethe hair itself and the workmanship I used on the wig, but its 12.1 ounces of hair. TWELVE!!! Once again I fell into the YouTube trap of admiring all the wigs made by the weavenistas and thought I wanted eighteen bazillion bundles of hair. #Wrong!!!
While it is as gorgeous as I imagined…it is not professional (in my opinion). But this wig was a lot of work and I do actually like it so before I do anything to adjust it or worse, start over – I’m going to rock it on the weekends and possibly keep it as is for “special occasions”. I see weavenistas and celebrities rocking 12+ ounces of hair and I love it….then I put it on and feel self conscious. What’s up with that? I’m happy to be getting wiggy…I have a few wig styles planned to finish out our protective styling challenge, so the fact that this one didn’t work out exactly as I thought it would is okay. It’s such a beautiful unit, I am sure I’ll get plenty of enjoyment out of it. What do you think of the hair? Hope everyone is still doing well for the challenge, I have been seeing some pretty awesome styles and updates lately!
