What do you consider long hair? FB Funniest Responses!

Last week Carmelita (DrMystique12 on YouTube & Instagram) and I were chatting during our commutes and our conversation – as usual – turned to hair at some point:

Carmelita:  I was looking at some of your pictures and your hair is pretty long.
Me:  REALLY?!  I don’t think so.  It feels real…medium.
Carmelita:  No…it’s long.
Me:  I mean, I’m happy with my hair right now but I don’t feel like its long…yet.
Carmelita:  Well, you have to remember when we met, your hair was like above your shoulders.
Me:  You know what?  That’s right!  Thanks for reminding me of how far I’ve come!

See, Carmelita has known me at the times in my life when my hair was its absolute shortest. Between shoulder and arm pit length hair is “normal” to me, but I have had some tragic times where I had to have it cut shorter – and I absolutely hated it.  So although I think of full APL hair as medium, she helped me have even more appreciation for it.  Later I posed the question via the Longing 4 Length Facebook page and ya’ll had some hilarious responses!!!  Some of the funniest:

  • Christian says:  Enough hair to just wear a thong and have my hair cover my boobs..but I have those economy size ones so I would need btl (baby toe length) hair to feel long…
  • Angela says:  I think BSL is long, I’ve had “long” hair most of my life, but after being on YouTube where I see these sistahs who routinely have hair to their elbows..I’m just another chick..lol
  • Shahri says:  Yea…I call it boob hair…enough hair to cover the boobage area - Pocahontas hair!
  • Robyn of The Random Phoenix says:  Right now, I feel APL would be long. But who knows, once I reach it, I may also feel medium, lol. I also LOVE the idea of “boob hair”, Blue Lagoon style!
  • Shemeika says:  Bsl and longer, whatever length it takes to cover the boobs.
  • Sdestra of Sdestra Hair Journey says:  Longer than what you had before.

I promise Christian’s answer had me both cracking up AND nodding in agreement and judging by the responses, many ladies’ goal is to have hair that covers their girls!  I’ve always maintained that my final stop would be full BSL/partial MBL – long enough to be sexy, not so long that my favorite styles are tedious.  However…I think a much better description would be BLH for “boob length hair”!!! LOL!

Although my final goal has remained unchanged – what I perceive as long hair has changed slightly.  When I first started I considered full APL (my current length) long now I’m firmly of the belief that BSL hair is undeniably long.  However – its all about perception and personally, I don’t think there is a “wrong” answer.

So, what do you consider long hair?

I have bsl hair and used to think that was long. Now that I’ve reached it, it no longer feels long. Ain’t that something.

For me,long hair is everything from apl ++.
My goal which I’m mainly focosing is the boob lenght hair. i swore myself to make me a private photoshoot where i only wear my hair to cover my boobs. I get really excited when I’m think about it .
overall my ultimate goal is waist lenght but after reaching boob lenght i’ll chill and enjoy my hair more often…

I wanted to do the same kind of photo shoot! It would mean more (to me) if it’s your own hair. I wanted waist length too, but I’m hating my hair at APL. I love shoulder length, so I see a cut in my near future

  • HairIAm_Shika

When my hair was BSB, that was the first time it FELT long. But typically I think BSL is universally long.

For me anything that has a blunt cut and is healthy is long. I used to think that BSL was super long until I made it with thin scrappy ends. Then I realized that if the hair isn’t healthy–then who cares how long it is?

LOL at some of the responses!

For me anything APL and longer is considered long. Anything past BSL is super long.

  • Marcia Huff

Every time I reach a new length my definition changes. I am at MBL now and it seems so short.

  • Coils

I consider BSL to be long hair but I plan to continue to grow my hair after that point. I’m at APL now and hope to one day be able to sit on my hair. :)

  • LaQT/ Ty

I used to think APL was long until I got there. Now BSL and greater is long, but everyone who sees my BSB hair tells me it’s long I just don’t see it.

  • fujoshifanatic

I always wanted hair long enough to cover my boobs, so I aimed for APL to BSL hair. But by the time I hit APL, I had gotten, uh, older. I still want hair long enough to cover my boobs, but now I have to wait until MBL. :-(

  • Perfect_Tresses

I went ahead & voted MBL. Simply bc I used to think APL was long, until I reached it & now I’m shooting for BSL, that to me is long too but I know once I reach it, I won’t think so lol

  • kearsten hall

I’m at classic length and barely consider my hair ‘long’….
