After getting everything on my last hair wish list - my hair obsessed self I found more items that are oh-so-necessary for my hair! Okay so that last part may not be exactly true but I do have a few things I think I’d like to have.
- Replacement Hair Steamer: After my less than great experience with Huetiful – which has as much to do with customer service as it does the unit malfunctioning after just five months of use – I want to replace it with one by Secura. Jeni of JGA and my good friend Carmelita aka DrMystique12 both have this brand and report it works quite well for a fraction of the price. I will be buying one before summer.
- Full Lace Wig: Even though I’ve never ever ever had good luck with lace wigs, I thought to myself after seeing a ba-zillion and two videos on RPG show units that maybe its because I’ve never had a “good” one. Most times the RPG show wigs look like you can’t go wrong. They are a bit pricey, which is weird for me to say considering how much I normally spend on extensions, but I guess since I’m not a hardcore wiggy the price sets me off a bit. What really convinced me was one of my fave relaxed YouTuber’s Shilinda1‘s review of the Kim Kardashian unit she was sent. Shilinda cut the lace open to create a u-part wig and it looked so NATURAL on her. Not only did she work the heck outta that unit but she wore it for months and let us see for ourselves how well it was holding up. So many weave/wig vloggers have hair sent to them so often its coming out of their ears so we rarely get to see a true “review” of anything because they don’t have a chance to wear it long enough to tell. Anyway, enough rambling the point is, I’d like to take the plunge into full lace land! Wendy Williams (friend in my head) would be proud!
- Interchangeable Curling Wand: I have a curling wand that I purchased from Sally’s but its a rather large one and creates loose curls rather than tight ringlets – which is fine but I’d like to have the option to change it up. I’m eyeing one on Amazon because it has 4 sizes and is only $50. I’ve been holding off on getting one because, let’s just be real, how often do I use direct heat? Furthermore a curling iron? Very rarely. But since I’m all about the fake hair lately I think if I had one, it just may get used regularly! Maybe…
- Straight Relaxed/Yaki Textured Extensions: I know everyone is screaming virgin but processed hair still has a place in my heart. Virgin hair is beautiful but I think there are a lot of weave novices who think it always equals superior. The truth is there are a lot of quality high end companies that have been around for a long time before the whole “virgin hair craze.” The important thing is that the hair is 100% human; a lot of beauty supply store brands are “blended” even when it doesn’t say so. Also high end brands usually have superior wefts so the shedding is greatly reduced and the hair is carefully processed, not stripped. I really want some hair that mimics relaxed texture because the fine nature of most virgin hair combined with it not always blending as well as I’d like with my hair makes me want to take a virgin break. I want hair that holds a curl well, can be wrapped and pincurled and behaves and looks like my own hair. I’m also thinking of getting a closure and making a wig with a blunt bang. We’ll see!
Okay that’s it. Rather non-traditional, but I’ve already accumulated most of the items I need for my healthy hair journey so now I’m mostly about what I want!
