So, if you’re an avid blog reader, I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Google is doing away with Google Reader. I was sooooo irritated by this whole thing! First they axe Google Friend Connect and now Reader?! What the eff! I have all the ba-zillion blogs I follow nicely categorized by topic (mom, hair, fashion, fitness, nails, couponing, etc) and so I thought now I gotta do that all over again? I just don’t have the energy. I can’t. I won’t. I refuse!!!!
But then…it was BLM Girls to the rescue. I absolutely heart those ladies because between the thousand plus of us, we know everything about everything about everything there is to know about blogging. At least, that’s my view of us! Tori over at Glasses & Glitter did a fantastic post about alternatives to Google Reader – and she should know because she’s a techie – but I still didn’t follow through on any of her suggestions because I was too busy mourning the loss of Reader. Seriously Google, ya’ll should be shot for that. Anywhoo, then my blogger boo Dee Dee of Miss Foodie Fab mentioned how much she loves Feedly and several BLM’ers chimed in to co-sign.
Well…I finally bit the bullet and YA’LL. Feedly is the friggin truth!!! First of all, you are able to log in with your Google account and all of your blogs from Reader will be migrated into the app, with its categories!!! Secondly, when Reader goes away in July, it will continue to function without any interruption! Thirdly, you know how some of your fave bloggers only display a preview of their posts in third party apps like Google Reader that then FORCE you to leave the app and visit their site? (I’m not sure whether or not I’m one of those annoying chicks…if I am, SORRY!) Well, right within the Feedly app you can visit the site, comment, and even tweet then return right back to your list of unread blog posts. And it has an add on for your browser applications and an app for Android and Apple products. I’m so in love with the way it displays the blog posts too…its like flipping through a digital version of your favorite blogs! One of the reasons I’ve stopped commenting on all the blogs I read is because honestly its so much easier just to read right within the reader app and keep it moving, but now I’ll try to be a bit more verbally supportive because Feedly just made it so much easier for me!
Seriously, don’t mourn the loss of Google Reader just switch on over to Feedly. You’ll be glad you did! As a side note…I noticed my own blog is listed twice. One as Longing4Length.com and another as Longing4Length.blogspot.com. I have no idea how to condense the two…or if I even need to. *shrugs* Ya’ll will have to work that one out for yourselves, I’m just not that advanced with RSS feeds and such just yet. So, to be on the safe side I would follow the new-new L4L at Longing4Length.com.
Google – take that with ya’ll monopolizing arses! Tryna force everybody to use Google Plus with ya’ll intrusive, personal info sharing selves. I.wont.do.it. AND YA’LL CAN’T MAKE ME! #bloop!
