I posted the above photo to my Instagram account (@EbonyCPrincess) last month showcasing some of the products sent to me by Profectiv Mega Growth – and honestly that isn’t everything! While I was overwhelmed with the amount of products, I appreciate their generosity. It is frustrating when companies ask you to review product(s) and only send you a sample packet. True story! How am I going to give a thorough, honest review from only a dime sized amount?! Okay rant over, back to the subject at hand – my Profectiv Mega Growth product review. Along with products, Profectiv sent a printed presentation with information about their products. Nice touch!
My approach to using these products was the same as always: investigate the ingredients first! The entire Profectiv Mega Growth line is protein based. When I received these products, I had been using the Vatika Naturals moisturizing deep conditioner for a few weeks and was in need of some protein, especially since I knew I’d be getting a sew in weave soon. I always like to strengthen my hair with protein before hiding it in a long term protective style. I used their shampoo, detangling conditioner and hair oil exclusively for my birthday wash day.
As I said in that post, I was really surprised with the decreased amount of shed hair I saw after rinsing the conditioner and even as I was setting my hair on the flexirods. I could tell that my hair had been treated with protein though, because while it was strong it definitely did not feel moisturized so I would caution ladies interested in this line not to use it weekly or at least follow with a moisturizing conditioner if you do. I REALLY love the smell of all of the products, they have a very light fruity smell, not overwhelming at all.
Since I obviously was not in need of a relaxer, I used the Profectiv Mega Growth Anti-Damage No-Lye Relaxer (regular strength) on my cousin when I went home. Check out our video review:
My overall feeling on the line is that it is good stuff! I plan to replace my ApHogee conditioners (which I’d conveniently run out of) with these Profectiv Mega Growth conditioners. In comparing the two lines, Profectiv seems to have the same amount of protein with more natural oils than ApHogee which makes it a better choice in my opinion. In addition, Profectiv Mega Growth products are much less expensive. As you saw my cousin really loved her results so I gifted her with half of the products to use on herself and her three daughters’ hair. I hope they use them regularly and if so, we’ll give an update the next time I’m home.
As I continue to use the conditioners, I’ll include updates in future wash day posts so be sure to stay tuned if you are curious as to my thoughts over time with the Profectiv MegaGrowth products and individual product reviews.
