Random Hair Thoughts!

Hair Ramble I’ve been MIA right?!  I can’t remember the last time I posted this infrequently.  Long story short, my laptop broke…AGAIN!  I swear I’m not doing anything crazy, I just have been having the worst luck with technology.  My camera died, lightning struck my satellite dish and now this!  In addition a lot of the time I normally dedicate to my blog has been spent exercising and cooking.  Which is actually a good thing, right?  At least I’m slowly but surely dropping these unwanted pounds.  So that’s what has been going on in a nutshell without boring you too much with details about my life.

That being said my lack of communication with you about my hair has made me HELLA paranoid!  I’m used to drafting hair posts at least once per week, and writing about hair care helps me stay on point with keeping up with my hair care regimen.  So, for a second (or two) I was in a panic thinking “OMGosh, I need to wash, I need to condition, I need to moisturize!” when in actuality, I have been keeping up with my weave regimen for the most part.  I’ve been shampooing and conditioning twice per month at the very least and spraying moisturizer onto my real hair 3-4 times per week.  I’m just accustomed to doing so much more that I’m not used to the low-low-low maintenance of my current weave installation.  But I believe it’s all good up under there!

I’ve been working out.  A lot. Hard.  Not just tennis but I’ve done a couple of boot camp classes and other challenging workouts.  At first I was really angry because I expected to be losing weight much faster than I am….I mean I’ve made half of this effort in my twenties and dropped more weight!  But then I had to reevaluate.  I’m not in a race, there is no finish line I have to cross by a certain date.  And I have been losing an average of 1-2 lbs of week which is – in reality – AWESOME!  So, I kind’ve calmed my frustration about how fast it is coming off.

So of course then I shifted to thinking…all this damn exercise better cause a growth spurt in my hair!!!!  GEEEEEZUS!  Those are the thoughts in my head right now…what’s going on with you ladies?  I feel so super out of touch with you!

P.S.  I have over twenty unanswered emails from women asking my opinions and advice on hair care.  I promise I will respond within the next week!  *Pinky Swear!*

I know exactly what you mean about expecting hair growth to occur as a result of very frequent exercise. When I exercised a lot one semester, and coupled with using castor oil ( my scalp is now oil free) I experienced very thick lengthy growth! Unfortunately, I did not know how to properly relax my hair despite having been on a hair journey for 3 years so I didn’t really see any length retained! But I personally believe exercise and sweating does equal thicker, more prominent new growth! My hair babble is I wish I’d known how to relax properly AND maintain healthy ends, so I wouldn’t be still at collarbone length but finally at the hailed APL!

That being said, I agree with what you say about hair being a journey, I’m 4 years into my journey, and although I only went from Ear Length to Collar Bone length, I’ve stopped hopping on bandwagons, and finally my hair is the healthiest it has ever been! So time is a key factor in this journey :)

I completely understand the struggle regarding maintaining thick, healthy hair growth AND retaining thick healthy ends! Time is definitely a factor, you said that so right!
