I had my hair relaxed with two boxes of my favorite Optimum Care Salon Collection No-Lye at the salon when I visited home last weekend. Yes…two boxes because of my 25 weeks of new growth! My stylist did an amazing job at relaxing my new growth and correcting the inconsistencies from using the Amla Legend relaxer back in April. Once again, my hair feels silky and smooth but not fragile; I absolutely LOVE this relaxer! She trimmed about two inches, which I requested which left me just above BSL…yes again! I attended a wedding that evening wearing a one shoulder flowy dress, so I chose to have my hair styled in a side-swept type of do; One half of my hair was french braided while the other side was spiral curled. I adored the final look, but unfortunately I had trouble capturing it for you. My camera phone just would not do right!
I planned on taking additional photos later but chileeeee, I danced so hard at the reception that it was completely sweated out. I was able to save the style by rolling my hair on about six purple flexirods for a few days but then I got caught in the rain while playing tennis and returned to my workout routine so all was lost. I simply opted to wash and start again.
Funny enough, when I was in high school and even college, I could always preserve my hair for two weeks. I don’t care if I were caught in a monsoon – I always had at the very least one of those old school rain bonnets in my purse! Nowadays though, it seems salon visits are just for special occasions or long term protective styles, I don’t even plan to keep a style longer than a week – MAX!
So mid-week I chelated with Chi Clean Start and followed it up with Bee Mine Botanical Shampoo. I selected ApHogee 2-Minute Reconstructor as my deep conditioner and sat under my electric heating cap with it for about an hour. Then I got busy working and studying so I ended up going to bed with the conditioner on and rinsing it the next morning then applying some Chi Keratin Mist as a light leave in. After sitting under my hooded dryer for a quick faux-airdry, I applied a bit of Bee Mine Luscious Balanced Cream Moisturizer then pulled it into a sleek top knot and went on about my business.
I know you are probably disappointed with the lack of a length check in this post. I’m saving that for my final end of the year comparison photo. To make up for it, here’s a bonus pic of my cutie patutie nephew, this is the giggle he gave me right after he tinkled on me during a changing!
