Natural Hair Products I Cannot Live Without

Like most naturals, in the beginning of my natural hair journey I was a huge, I mean like ridiculously huge, product junkie. I tried everything from the high end products to the good ole ones found right in my kitchen. Finally, after a lot of trial and error, I discovered what worked best for my natural hair. Now don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy trying out new products and I even love revisiting products that just did not do it for me the first time. But I will always remain faithful to these natural hair products I cannot live without.

Must Have Natural Hair Products Water:  First on my list of natural hair products I cannot live without is water. Yes, water! Although it’s not an actual product per say, it is definitely a must have in my daily regimen. And the first thing I recommend to anyone considering becoming natural or new naturalistas. It’s the ultimate moisturizer!

Coconut Oil:  I’ve tested and tried several oils and butters over the years but nothing has worked as well as coconut oil on my natural hair. Aside from its wonderful smell, I love coconut oil because it is unlike most oils, which just coat your hair; coconut oil actually penetrates the hair shaft and provides it with moisture. I use the coconut oil when I do the L.O.C. Method and as a daily hair moisturizer (along with water of course). What I love most is that a little goes a long way.

Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie:  I discovered Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie a few years ago and I fell in love immediately, which is no wonder because one of the top ingredients is coconut oil. Not only does the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie work wonders on my curls but it’s also affordable, a huge plus for me, being the frugal shopper I am.

Ampro Pro Styl Styling Gel:  I’ve been a huge fan of Ampro Pro Styl Styling Gel for years! It was one of my favorites even before I became natural.  It has amazing hold and does not flake like most other hair gels I’ve used in the past.

Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Creamy Hair Lotion:  The Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Creamy Hair Lotion is the most recent addition to my must haves. I discovered it this past summer and I was a bit skeptical when I saw it. But to my surprise it works great on my twist outs and is great refresher for my curls on those days when I just don’t feel up to doing much to my hair.

What are of your must have natural hair products?

This post is right on time for me. It seems as though the products that I started with on my natural hair journey are no longer working for me. It’s almost as if my hair texture is changing as it gets longer. I always use, and swear by the Shea Moisture smoothie. But it’s my Olive oil that’s starting to fail me. It doesn’t seem to be holding my moisture the way it used to. I will for sure try coconut oil now.

Great point! I’ll ask the girls about whether or not products seemed less effective over time as their hair needs changed perhaps due to length or something else. Let me know how the coconut oil works – you can be my test specimen! lol

Initially I wanted to buy a hair care product costing
not more than 10 – 15 bucks per package because I’ve been suffering from
sporadic hair loss all my life. Just to put it bluntly most of the stuff that I
used before was not getting me any results. I really got tired of using
Rogaine. I noticed that hair started to grow in unusual places all over my
body. I knew that I had to find some other solution to deal with my current
hair situation. I stumbled upon a link to a website that was selling Hairgain
formula (90 capsules) by Military Grade Nutritionals rated #2 by amazon among
products in the same class. I was kinda hesitant to buy it at first. It was a
bit on the expensive side and only had two reviews. Considering my past bad
experience with hair care products I decided to give it a try just in case it
helps. I used it together with a topical solution called Elidel. One sidenote.
The capsules are kinda large and should be downed with a lot of water. In about
three months, I stopped using Elidel. Moreover, I did not feel any withdrawal
syndrome whatsoever. I’ve been using Hairgain ever since, 4 caps daily to be
precise. My hair looks much healthier and even thicker than it did before. At
least that’s what my relatives tell me.
