As you know, bloggers often review products – some which were sent, others which we purchased. Often we review the item, sharing our thoughts, opinions and experiences and unfortunately at times that is the last you ever hear about that particular product. I cannot speak for anyone else, but from my experience that happens mainly because I constantly have an arsenal of stuff that I either need or want to try. And in efforts to keep my basic weekly regimen as simple as possible, not all new products and techniques make it into my permanent regimen – no matter how great I think they are. So as 2013 comes to a close, I thought it would be nice to revisit all the products I reviewed over the year so I can do a final follow up on my thoughts.
MegaGrowth Products: I really enjoyed using these products, the conditioners in particular and love the way they smell, their availability and especially their price. Because they are protein based products, I initially thought they would replace Aphogee as my go-to since they are cheaper. Well, ApHogee is back. I still stand by my original opinions that the products are great and do recommend the relaxer to ANYONE looking for their staple, but I just prefer ApHogee probably because of familiarity. So, while I did enjoy the products they will not be a permanent addition to my stash.
Liquid Gold Hair Growth Oil: I’ve never been very consistent with applying anything to my scalp and this is not an exception. However, I do believe these products can give an extra boost of hair growth and will continue to TRY to use them regularly. Still a part of my product stash and I did repurchase after my first bottle was used.
Motions Straight Finish Products: I absolutely LOVE these products. I truly believe they deliver on promises to stretch natural kinks (new growth and/or fully natural hair) and protect from heat, they smell great and gave me amazing results when I straightened my Perfect Locks curly hair extensions. I don’t flat iron my real hair very often so you probably won’t see me use these products much, but I do like them and will continue to use them especially on wavy and curly virgin weave.
Dabur Vatika Naturals Virgin Olive Deep Conditioning Hair Mask: This is such a good moisturizing conditioner! I loveeeee this product and highly recommend it to anyone whose hair is protein sensitive. My hair, however, likes protein and protein/moisture balanced conditioners so I did not feel the need to restock this product once I used it all. So that is the reason you have not seen any new wash day posts containing this product but I really like it.
Optimum 6-in-1 Miracle Oil: I liked this product as a leave in, because it kept frizz at bay and my hair was extremely smooth, but actually think the smoothness feels a bit silicone-like. The product information states it is 99% natural and organic, but after using the entire bottle I can’t shake the feeling that it contains synthetic ingredients. I prefer more natural based oils and silicone free products so this will not be making any more appearances into my hair regimen.
Parnevu Hair Products: I highly recommend the Hair Mayonnaise conditioner and really like the gel, which feels more like a glaze. My original review stated my dislike for the leave-in because of how much mineral oil and lanolin it contains so I have no plans to test it out on my hair. But for those looking for a great, inexpensive protein/moisture conditioner, I think you should definitely try the hair mayo. Although this is not necessarily a staple product, I would definitely consider repurchasing. There are a ton of great conditioners that are not must haves for my regimen that I’ve revisited on and off over the years (ORS Replenishing Pak, Aubrey Organics White Camella, Aussie 3 Minute Moist) and this can be added to the list of “sometimes” conditioners especially with such a great price point.
Ampro Silk Edges: Still my go-to edge control product. Cheaper than most edge pomades, non-greasy, non-flaking, and non-drying. What more could you ask for? Especially for only $3.99?!
I think that wraps up my thoughts on all the products I tried throughout 2013. There are so many great products on the market and whether or not it is a permanent addition to my product stash is not a clear indicator of my feelings on a product. So I think a post like this is completely necessary just as a follow up on my reviews.
