Pedicure Must Haves for Perfect Toes

Hallelujah its officially springtime!  I can’t speak for readers in other countries but here in the US we had a horrific winter.  We had record breaking low temperatures, tons of snow and ice storms and overall just an awful season.  I already hate winter (except for the holidays) and the fact that the cold just kept dragging on and on made it worse.  Now that April is here – its time to break out my pedicure must haves, these keep my toes and feet in perfect sandal wearing condition!

Pedi-Couture Sandals:  These cute flip flops keep your toes comfortably separated while you paint and dry your toenails.  Unlike the flimsy paper versions provided at the salon, these have a padded rubber sole that allows you to wear them outside.  Everyone should own a pair and they also make great gifts!

Callous Softener:  For thick skin and roughened heels, nothing beats a good callous softener.  This prevents the need for intensive foot filing and the dreaded razor which can end up doing more harm than good.  This brand from Head to Toe is my favorite, it immediately softens skin and washes away cleanly.

Ped Egg:  If you haven’t seen this item either through billions of infomercials or in the ‘As Seen on TV’ section of stores, then I’m not sure what rock you’ve been living under!  The Ped Egg’s micro-foot file smooths away dead skin and callouses, keeping your feet soft and lovely.  Plus all the shavings are kept in the ergonomic design which is so much less messy than using regular files and pumice stones.

Shea Butter:  I usually make my own whipped shea butter with my favorite oils and a bit of glycerin, but even when used alone pure shea butter is the ultimate moisturizer.  In addition it has natural sunscreen, perfect for the spring and summer months.

Pedi-Fix Gel Socks:  After I file and apply moisturizer to my feet, to preserve the smooth softness I use gel socks overnight.  The soft gel lining cushions feet with a spa-like feel and seals in the moisture similar to the way we use plastic caps to help our moisturizer penetrate better.  Alternatively you can simply use plastic bags and cover with socks, but be careful not to slip!

Great tips…peppermint or lavender oils, used sparingly, are excellent essential oils to add to your foot bath. I did not know that shea butter naturally includes sun screen – thanks for the tip!

Those pedi sandals are nice! Can’t believe I have never seen them. I’m going to look into getting these as a gift for my bridesmaids.
