There are so many different DIY recipes out there for natural hair! Many recipes are simple and require fairly inexpensive ingredients; making DIY recipes for natural hair fun and affordable! The key (however) to a successful DIY recipe for natural hair is researching the ingredients and the effects they may have on your natural hair. Below are few DIY recipes for natural hair that I’ve tried…

  • 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil

Using a mixer, combine all ingredients in a bowl until smooth. Another method, is to soften the shea butter in the microwave, add the other ingredients and mix by hand. This is one of my favorite DIY recipes for my natural hair. It’s simple, seals in the moisture of my natural hair, smells great and can be used on my body too.

Simple DIY Hot Oil Treatment

  • 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil
  •  1-2 tablespoons of jojoba or olive oil
  • A few drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)

DIY Recipe 1

*Please note the oils listed above are some of my favorites, feel free to tweak this DIY recipe by using your favorite oil instead.*

Combine all ingredients in a microwave safe bowl, place in the microwave for 30-45 seconds until warm. Generously apply the warm mixture to your hair. Use a plastic cap/saran wrap to cover your hair and allow the mixture to sit for at least 15 minutes before washing.

Easy DIY Moisturizer Detangling Mix

DIY Recipe 2

  • Water
  •  Favorite detangling conditioner

Add about two tablespoons of conditioner to a spray bottle, then add water and shake until mixed well. Add more water if necessary until the mixture sprays easily from the spray bottle. This mixture is great to use in between washes, as a styling agent and as a moisturizing spray.

Like I mentioned, there are tons of different recipes for natural hair. You can keep it simple (which is always my motto) or you can get super creative and come up with your very own.

I really like Tres Naturals for detangling. It’s super slippery and really helps to get those tangles removed.
