It’s been way too long since I’ve shared nail photos, let alone a tutorial! With the advent of the almighty Instagram, I’m just more apt to snap a quick pic with my cell phone and share than to upload here to the blog! Which is really sad because I like sharing my thoughts on my various manicures, my impressions and opinions about the polish and of course tutorials! Today’s nail art is another gradient nails tutorial, but different than the typical ombre nail art I’ve previously shared.
Initially I planned to try my hand at galaxy nails, but I wasn’t home and forgot my dotting tool so I opted for this variation on gradient nails instead. It’s kind of a tye-died effect and my color selection reminds me of cotton candy. It was actually super simple to do – check out the pictorial:
- Begin by painting your nails with a white polish – clearly it does not need to be perfect.
- Using tweezers to hold a small piece of a cosmetic wedge, lightly sponge your first color (mine is pink) onto your nail in random areas over your nail.
- Repeat the same process with your second color (blue) between the sponged lines of the first color.
- Lastly sponge your third color onto the areas of white polish that peeks through. Be careful not to add too much of your third color so the gradient effect of the design is still evident.
I really liked the effect but wished I decided against adding the glitter polish. I think a regular coat of clear would have slightly blurred the edges and given a beautiful finish. I will be trying this type of gradient nails again soon though! What do you think? If you decide to re-create your own version, please snap a quick pic and tag me via Instagram @EbonyCPrincess so I can see!
