Well, it seems like it has been forever and a day since I posted! Happy Holidays to everyone, pardon my tardiness! Originally I planned to have a fabulous Christmas Day collaboration post, but for all of those who are new to L4L…Christmas time for my family is a very busy time. Normally I finish all of my shopping by December 1st, but this year I was so swamped leading up to the holiday that I had no time to shop! Therefore, I spent everyday up until Christmas running around like a mad (but happy) woman! So although I am a little late again I say Happy Holidays to everyone!
I’m in New Jersey!!! Woot woot! I mean no disrespect to anyone in any other region of the US or any other countries, but there is NO place on earth like the east coast baby! #TrueJerseyGirl! As soon as I stepped foot off the airplane, I felt energized and nostalgic – I love coming home. I won’t bore you with the details of my life for the past few days but I had a fabulous holiday. Like REALLY fabulous. I mentioned on Facebook that I normally look a hot mess for Christmas because I have so much to do before and on the actual day (cooking, setting up, cleaning up, wrapping gifts, etc) that I have little time to “pretty” myself up and certain outfits just aren’t practical for the amount of work involved. This year I intended to look halfway decent but still practical so I wore leggings a sheer tunic and low heeled booties. It came together nicely and I think altogether (shirt, leggings, boots) my outfit cost around $50.
As for the hair, I had my cousin remove my 10 Minute Hollywood Sew In during our annual “cousin” gathering on Christmas Eve. I ended up chilling with my cousins til about 2:30 so needless to say a long, drawn out wash day was NOT in order. So, I saturated my hair with Hydratherma Naturals Amino Protein conditioner (because it has protein and this is my pre-relaxer wash day) and olive oil and bagged my hair for an overnight deep conditioning on dry hair. Christmas morning I shampooed with L’oreal EverPure Moisture Shampoo (sls-free), which I absolutely love and then applied Jane Carter Revitilizing Leave-In conditioner. I’ve given my mother an arsenal of products over the years so I normally have a stash of “good” hair products whenever I’m visiting home. Then I blow dried my hair and flat ironed on medium heat in rather large sections. Because I’m about 12 weeks post, I wasn’t even going to attempt to get my hair completely straight – that would require too much heat and more time then I had! I created a semi-straight look with a bit of curl for body and shape and everyone loved it.
I have no idea if I’ve gained length or not until I relax my hair – but I am due for a trim so I will let you know in a couple of days! After our official family celebration and dinner, we came back to my parents’ house so our immediate family could open their gifts and here is how my hair looked at the end of the night:
I am certainly pleased with its thickness and shine! Since that day however, because my roots already weren’t very straight and it has been raining on and off, mixed with a bit of snow – my hair has been kind of a mess. I have an appointment to see my TRUSTED home hairstylist for a touch up and trim and I am literally biting at the bit!
I did not intend for this post to be so long, but hopefully it was kind’ve interesting. Anywhooo I am dying to know, how did you wear your hair for Christmas? What are your hair plans for New Year’s Eve? I haven’t decided if I’m going out or not…honestly since my hair will be freshly done, I feel like I owe it to my hair to show it off! Just kidding…kinda. ;-)
