I talk a lot. To my family. To my friends. And when I haven’t spoken to someone in a long time, they know they are guaranteed to have a long conversation with me as we catch up. Well, ya’ll are my hair friends and since I’ve been working so much I feel like we need a serious catch up session! I haven’t had a chance to tell you – in detail – about my latest protective style (10 Minute Hollywood Sew In) or share my latest hair purchases!!! So its time to start catching up!
First, I’ve learned the Joico K-Pak products are my protein based products of choice. I’ve used a few items from the line in the past with good results, but being the product junkie I am, I had others in constant rotation. Well, nowadays protein is especially important for my hair – not just before and after relaxing. Strengthening products that contain penetrating protein like the Joico K-Pak products decrease the amount of breakage I see at the line of demarcation (where my natural new growth and relaxed hair textures meet). In addition, they strengthen my hair in preparation for long-term protective styles, like weaves and Senegalese Twists which initally cause a lot of tension on the hair. My hair responds amazingly well to both the Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator (safe for weekly use) and the Intense Reconstructor (used every 6-8 weeks).
I’ve also picked up quite a few additional hair products, all of which retail for $15 or more, so I’m dubbing this my ‘high end’ hair haul. Check out my vlog as I share what I’ve purchased and my thoughts on each product:
Below is a list and links to all the products mentioned in the video:
- Steamer ($55)
- Joico KPak Intense Hydrator
- Joico Kpak Reconstructor
- Joico Moisture Recovery Balm
- KeraCare Hydrate Detangling Shampoo
- KeraCare Humecto Conditioner
- Kerastase Oléo-Relax Masque
- Kerastase Oléo-Relax Shampoo
- Davine’s Love Curl Shampoo
- Davine’s Momo Conditioner
- Aveda Dry Remedy Masque
YouTube viewers have me really excited to finally try the Joico Moisture Recovery Balm and I used the Momo conditioner already (under my weave and my edges). You already know how much I love the Kerastase so that will be a real treat as well.
I don’t think you HAVE to spend a lot on hair care products to have beautiful, healthy hair but sometimes I just get a bit bourgeois and my hair knows it!!! However, most of my “high end” products have really great economical substitutions, some of which I’ve already shared in my Save vs. Splurge posts.
Have you tried any of these products? Please share your thoughts, how you use them and your favorites!
