I stress time and time again how important *I* believe it is to invest in your hair extensions. Great hair from a reputable company has so much versatility and more importantly longevity. One way to straighten your virgin curly and wavy hair extensions is with a rollerset. Learning how to roller set your weave versus constantly straightening and curling with hot tools will preserve the hair’s natural texture, plus the style lasts so much longer and better!
Besides using roller sets as a great style option for your weave, it also ensures that your real hair beneath your weave has completely dried after washing. This is very important!!! A perpetually wet scalp is a breeding ground for fungus and bacteria. For more weave maintenance tips check out the entire L4L Weave Care archives. Anyway after washing and conditioning my hair, I gathered the tools needed to create the style: clips, a small tooth comb, spray bottle with water, medium hold setting wrap lotion and a smoothing serum.
You will notice I am using the halo rollers from Capelli Care in the tutorial. I’ve already done a full review, but as a quick recap, I prefer vented plastic rollers to traditional magnetic rollers because my hair dries faster. The small, smooth bumps on these rollers grips the hair for a tight set without causing breakage so they are usually my choice. The dryer is my same Pebco professional hooded salon dryer – my hair and the weave were both dry in an hour!

For those curious, the hair worn in this tutorial is the Ten Minute Hollywood Sew In that I previously reviewed (6.5 ounces, 14/16″, Virgin Malysian Wavy Texture). To maintain this look at night, I simply pin curl, cover with a bonnet and go to bed. The next morning, I remove the pins add a bit of spray moisturizer or shine serum as needed, fluff and go! I also make sure to pincurl before working out as well.
By avoiding direct heat, it makes it easy to transform the hair from curly/wavy to straight and back again as many times as I want without damaging the natural texture. If you want to reuse your hair time and time again, treat as your own! Keep it clean and conditioned and don’t abuse it with a ton of heat every day.
