These two are near and dear to my heart!!! LaKesheia is my sister in law and puts up with my only brother’s antics, she’s the mother of my precious nephew Xander and Azizah is my lil mini-me sent from heaven to remind me of all the sass and mouth I had as a little girl! That’s my boo right there. Anyway, Keshia has four children and a nurse so needless to say she’s an expert on maintaining healthy hair with a busy schedule and no time for all day “wash days.” They both have gorgeous hair and I thought it so fitting to kick off the Mommy & Me series with these two beautiful ladies….yeah I’m biased because they are family, but that does not make it any less true, just scroll through their photos below!!!
About Mommy, LaKesheia
Regimen: Mommy’s hair regimen is to get in where it can fit in! I try my best to wash at least once a week, no longer than two weeks. I detangle using Dove’s Moisturizing Conditioner. Afterwards, I always deep condition with my Hot Head Deep Conditioning Cap (she bought her own after seeing my review!) whenever I do wash for at least 45 mins. Very rarely, I do a wet blow out, but sometimes time just is not on my side. Usually, I blow dry it and leave it at that, or flat iron it into curls.
About Daughter, Azizah
Regimen: Baby girl’s hair gets washed when there is no more holding out. She hates getting her hair washed, and I hate washing it. When I do, her hair regimen is the same as mine, with the exception of deep conditioning. She uses the Hot Head for at least 90 60-90 minutes, depending on when she surfaces.
Staple Products: We are very faithful to our products, and it includes shampooing with Rapunzel The Future of Hair Shampoo, and Organix Coconut and Milk Shampoo. I have psoriasis and have to pre-treat my scalp with 2 different medicated shampoos before using my staples. We detangle with Dove’s Moisturizing Conditioner and then apply the Rapunzel Conditioner before sitting under the Hot Head.
Does your hair style or texture influence the way your daughter wants her hair to look? Definitely!!! With her being on a dance team, I decided to straighten and style her hair like mine to make it easier to put it into a faux mohawk. Ever since, she has been hooked to heat! Since I typically have my hair straight or flat ironed with curls, my daughter has grown a dislike for her natural curls, and borderline comes to tears when she has to wear her hair in it’s natural state.
Is hair time with your daughter a bonding experience or nightmare? Does she enjoy or dread it? Its WAR! She despise getting anything done to her hair, and I dread doing it. It involves a bunch of tears and drama. Her being overly tender headed makes the simplest task a chore. It’s so bad, we have named Friday, “Free Hair Day”. This is a day where she goes to school without me laying a finger on her head.
From the editor: I have to agree. Azizah always wants the “look” of a finished style but hates the process…even when I do her hair, although she gives me much less trouble than she gives her mom!
